Not a government site

TX Emissions Guide is independent. It is not run by, endorsed by or affiliated with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, any county tax assessor-collector or any inspection station. We do not perform inspections, process registrations or collect fees.

General information, not advice

The site explains the Texas vehicle emissions program in plain English and quotes official sources word for word, with the date we read each one. Rules and fees change. Your registration renewal notice, the agencies and your county tax office have the final word; nothing here is legal advice. Always confirm before you act on anything that matters to you.

Station listings

Station listings come from public map listings. A listing does not mean the business is certified by the Texas Department of Public Safety, and it is not an endorsement. We do not rate or rank stations, and no business pays to be listed.

Tools

The county checker and fee calculator apply the published rules to what you enter. They are a guide: the inspection station’s analyzer, the state database and your renewal notice decide the actual result and amounts.

Use of the content

You may link to any page and quote short passages with a link back. Quotes from agency pages remain the agencies’ words; follow the source links for the originals.

Liability

The site is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, TX Emissions Guide is not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or reliance on its content.
